He travelled to New Zealand, America, Canada and Scotland where he inspected several studs and became very interested in the New Zealand genetics particularly.
Over the next 5 years the stud females increased to 24 with a consistent growth over the many years ahead. Bulls were purchased and imported from New Zealand, Canada and Scotland to begin the establishment of a strong gene pool. Many of the early sires included Edinglassie, Mulben and Abington genes all from Scottish bloodlines. Canadian bloodlines were also purchased and imported including Canadian bred bull, Trangie Page, who produced very well at Milong.
